Is kayak fishing for me?

Testimonials:   "At Strike Three Kayak Fishing, we have a ball!"

Neil,

Thank you for the great time today.  While the bite wasn't quite on, I walked away with some invaluable knowledge and experience that will dramatically shorten my learning curve while becoming a fellow kayak fisherman.  You have a gift for clearly communicating a tremendous amount of information in a manner that doesn't overwhelm the client.  I highly recommend anyone that is interested in kayak fishing to contact Neil, he is tremendous.
Thanks again and I hope to see you on the water soon.      Dan

It has been my pleasure to have met Neil and to have fished with him several times.  After numerous failed attempts over many months to gain the local knowledge required to be able to catch the exciting species of fish, I had nothing to show but frustration.  I was introduced to Neil and scheduled a trip for me, my son and my brother in law who was visiting from California.  An evening trip proved to be SPECTACULAR.  We caught several varieties of fish and many of them.  A Shark, a few trout, several snook, a lizard fish and a sting ray.  It was interesting, exciting, informative and fun.  A different brother in law visiting resulted in repeated demands to meet Neil.  Of course we went again and had just as good of a time.  Great fisherman, great teacher and a very interesting man.  Book a trip and see for your self.

Best of luck,  Vin G- Palm Harbor

Neil took my two young boys and me out in St. Joseph Sound for a day we will never forget.  We had never been out in kayaks before so he started us with a quick lesson on how to paddle the kayaks and within a minute the boys were racing each other away from the beach.  As none of us are experienced fishermen, Neil demonstrated for the boys and I how to cast a bait net, bait the hook, and how to use the gear.  He explained what fish we were seeing (and could expect to catch), and how and where to cast the bait.  We didn't have to wait long before the rod tips were bent from the fight.  We were only out for half of the day but the memories we took home will last a life time.  Oh, and of course, we all caught very nice Redfish.  Without hesitation I recommend that you schedule a trip (with or without the kids) out in the kayak with Neil.  His expertise, patience, and sense of humor make it a day worth taking! -Chris G., Fort Mill, SC

I have spent several kayak fishing days with Neil and all were great experiences. In addition to knowing the water and where fish are likely to be, Neil is a born teacher. His goal seems to be to make his guiding superfluous, and my fishing (catching) improved by orders of magnitude as a result of his tutoring. I fly fish and he does not, but he was able to help me translate his lure choices and techniques to my fly rod. I have such confidence in his ability to make a kayak fishing trip a memorable experience that every time I have a friend or relative visit me in Florida the first thing I do is call Neil and arrange a day on the water for my guest. They are never disappointed! On top of all that, he is a conscientious steward of the water and its resources; if all the folks who enjoy fishing shared Neil's concern and matched his efforts, the wonderful waters of the Tampa Bay area would be even better.-Ed V.   Mississippi

In the past three years or so, we have been on numerous outings with Neil Taylor. He is not only a fine guide, but an excellent instructor and a wonderful person. His vast knowledge of the local waters, the tides and the habitats of the different species of local fish, has made each and every trip memorable, enjoyable and productive.
We congratulate Neil on his new venture, and look forward to fishing with him for many years to come.

I have been out with Neil on numerous occasions. He is a teacher, a fine fisherman, and most of all a gentleman. I have learned a great deal from Neil, but nothing as important as the protection and respect for the fishing environment that provides us so much joy. I have brought friends in from out-of-state to fish with Neil, and it is this quality that they talk about the most. Keep up the good work!    Ron

Just wanted to say thanks again for showing
me the basic ropes on fishing shallow water.  That was the best
investment I've made in a long time.  I really learned a lot from you
and I'm trying to put it all to good use.

I fished with Neil Sunday from 3pm til 1am...It was one of the most memorable times I have had fishing, and I have fished all over the world.  He was our speaker at the last meeting.
Being new to kayaks and after hearing him at our last meeting, I chartered him.  I learned more about kayaking and kayak fishing than I ever thought possible, plus we had a great time.  We must have seen several hundred fish feeding; we fished for my favorite, snook; and saw and caught them.  He said it was an off night, but believe me when I tell you it was fantastic.
As far as guides go, I would rate him at the top.  He is very knowledgeable, has good equipment, wants to catch fish, and is very patient.  I plan on going with him again in the very near future and highly recommend him as a guide.
As far as the kayaking went, it was wonderful.  Again, he is very knowledgeable, skilled, and has the ability to explain things to a novice.  It was my second trip in a kayak, so you know I did not know much, and now I feel very comfortable.
If you are new to fishing or kayaking, take the time to contact him and book a charter.  He is very reasonably priced and it is well-worth the investment of time and money.  The easiest way to reach him is by email at LivelyBaits@aol.com

I can't thank you enough for the great time I had yesterday.  The weather was great, the conversation was excellent, and the fishing fantastic.  On top of that I gained great knowledge that will make future fishing adventures even better than the ones I've done in the past.  It's hasn't always about catching fish before but my perspective has changed to some degree.  Using artificials with smashed down barbs is a great way to fish.  It keeps the fish from swallowing hooks and makes releasing them so much easier.

I really liked the kayak you had me in.  It rode nice and the seat, was comfortable and had plenty of room for my needs.  The fish tasted really good too.  I did ended up breading them and putting them in the oven.  My wife and daughter were very impressed.  Now that they think I know what I'm doing, they want to go out too.  Now I just have to go find my own spots.

Thanks again for a trip I'll always remember.

Bob

Neil,

Brandt and I just wanted to thank you again for a great day on the water Wednesday.  Both putting us on fish and the good advice on everything from baits to kayaks was really helpful and appreciated. You had said that your purpose was both to educate and to guide and that really proved very true.  Thanks again and we look forward to fishing with you and seeing you at seminars in the future.

Best Wishes,

John Burton

My full endorsement: I didn't think I'd be able to catch fish like I saw on the TV shows from a kayak.   I took a trip with Neil and I got a 34 -nch snook to eat a lure on the second cast of the day.   Ten minutes later he took me to "Redfish Country."  I laughed when he said that until I hooked a 25 inch redfish two minutes later.
He talked me through using the kayak, the lures, fighting a fish and proper handling of the fish for release.   First class.   Thank you!   KD

Neil,
No guide can promise nor produce as many fish as he would like to see his clients catch. (especially when the wind won't stop LOL) on every trip. But what you can do & have always done for me is make any trip both informative & ENJOYABLE!
You have always given it your best effort, stayed optimistic & never have minded giving extra fishing time if needed.
That is why I'll be coming back ( like it or not) & will continue to send referrals your way.
Thanks for getting me started in kayak fishing!   Joe- Ohio
For any of you folks out there who want to learn about kayak fishing,
Neil Taylor is the man to contact.  I'm new to the sport and nearly
70 years old, so I was looking for some help.  Neil took me to a spot
where he taught me lots about tackle and technique.  What test line
and leader?  What sizes and colors of baits to use?  What rigging
improvements to make so that my kayak was more efficient for
fishing?   I got it all from Neil in a patient and really friendly
manner.  What else could anyone want in a guide?

By the way, I caught more than a dozen trout!
